Ellex® Retinal Laser Treatment
The Ellex® retinal laser is an ophthalmic laser system used by retinal specialists to treat certain diseases and abnormalities of the retina. It delivers precisely controlled pulses of laser energy to targeted areas of the retina, producing controlled therapeutic changes that may help stabilize retinal disease and prevent further complications.
Depending on the specific condition, retinal laser photocoagulation may be used to:

Seal retinal tears or holes.

Treat abnormal retinal blood vessels, including those associated with diabetic retinopathy.

Reduce retinal leakage or abnormal blood-vessel growth in selected retinal vascular conditions.
The procedure is generally performed in the office. The eye is first dilated and anesthetized with topical medication. A specialized contact lens may then be placed on the eye to help the physician precisely focus and deliver the laser treatment to the intended area.
During the procedure, patients commonly see bright flashes of light. The duration and extent of treatment vary depending on the underlying condition and the area being treated. Some conditions may require more than one laser treatment, which may be performed over multiple sessions.
